Evidence indicates that there exists a positive correlation between time management and positive emotions. Estimating that how long the task will consume the time is known as time sense. The greater an individual would have sense of time, the better he would be able to set realistic goals and accomplish them. Thus, it facilitates the avoidance of negative feelings and emotions such as frustration of not completing the work or activity in the given time.

Thus, by separating the tasks that are more time consuming and considering them to do less frequently or doing after completing the other small tasks gives pleasure of achievement and hence, an individual will not get exasperate over it. For this purpose, an individual needs to prioritize the task i.e. attempt to do the most vital tasks first, irrespective of the tasks that derives pleasure to him. Thus, high probability behaviors will act as reinforcer for an individual while doing the less probability behaviors. This principle is known as “Pre-Mack Principle” in psychology. It will help you to focus on undesirable acts and detrimental tasks, while managing the time and thus will lead to positive emotions.

Time sense can also be enhanced using certain strategies that is by taking mental notes and assuming that how much time will be required to accomplish a particular task effectively. For example planning in advance that how much time will be consumed in making the breakfast, delivering your child to a nearby school and in doing other chores etc. On the accomplishment of the task in time or before time, an individual will experience a sense of success, joy, contentment and inspiration that are healthy in nature. Thus, time management assists us to focus on the positive aspects of any situation.

Keeping high and rigid standards, also leads to severe disturbances when not fulfilling the tasks. Moreover, life circumstances and changing situations also can act as a barrier in the completion of the task in particular time. Therefore, people who are less flexible and finds it hard to shift the standards when time demands are soaring, feel as if they are in some way incompetent.

Time management can be done more effectively by either making a mental list of “Do’s” i.e. the things to do in a particular time frame or constructing the time table of the tasks to do. The latter is more simple and easy to relax the mind from bearing excessive detail. Moreover, for proper time management and planning a head, it is also very crucial to complete the task in time without procrastinating it. Thus, abstaining from delaying the task, recognizing the procrastination excuses and thereby, completing it at proper time can be done with few management techniques.

Firstly, an individual needs to assume possession of his time that is he needs to stop other individuals from intervening in his time. Mostly, people make commitments without other individual’s consent, therefore; taking the authority of the time and managing it accordingly leads to subjective well being. Secondly, making sure persistently that one is indulging him in most important tasks first and is giving  plenty of time to significant things also enhances prioritizing and time management skills.

Similarly, saying no to others who can eat your time without giving any benefit and assigning some small tasks to others gives a sensation of more time available. For example, refusing a friend for shopping and asking children to set the dining table will enable to run loads of laundry more easily.

Thus, if one’s routine is more hectic and he feels overworked and over whelmed than a question arises that can he buy time? Probably yes, by keeping a maid, and through other facilitating services one can make time for him and can maximize his productivity. Moreover, he can also derive satisfaction by breaking the task into small components and sequentially completing them. It will give him sense of accomplishment on the acquisition of each chunk of task and motivation for the next task. The time management will also enable him to deal with his procrastination and also enhances happiness, satisfaction and boosts pleasurable feelings.

Lastly, organizing time and dealing effectively with it is also very important for maintaining healthy relationships and performing well at work. Keeping office time and home time separate will allow remaining focused at work, feeling less burdened, procrastinate less and achieve more. Moreover, it also enables you to give your home time to your family and resolving their issues without having pressure of office work. Therefore, it is essential to set boundaries and stay with them for better quality of life.
